Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 13, 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

WildLog (the "Service") is operated by Kathryn deSloovere ("we", "us", "our"), a sole proprietor doing business as WildLog. By using WildLog you are entering into an agreement with Kathryn deSloovere.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use WildLog on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms. If you are an individual, you confirm that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction to enter into this agreement.

3. The Service

WildLog is a community field journal that lets users check into outdoor locations, log wildlife and plant sightings, upload photos, and view sightings shared by others on an interactive map. Optional AI-powered species identification is offered to signed-in users.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

5. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
  • Engage in fraud, spam, harassment, or post content that infringes intellectual property rights;
  • Upload malware, probe, scan, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the security or integrity of the Service;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, resell, or redistribute the Service or circumvent any technical limits;
  • Post the precise location of protected, endangered, or sensitive species where doing so would risk harm.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by Kathryn deSloovere and is protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with your subscription plan.

7. User content

You retain ownership of the photos, notes, and other content you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display your content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and — where you choose to make an entry public — to other users. You are responsible for having the rights necessary to upload your content.

8. No fees

WildLog is currently offered free of charge. We do not charge subscription or usage fees. If this ever changes we will update these terms and notify you in advance.

9. AI features and accuracy

AI species identification is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete and must not be relied upon for scientific, medical, safety-critical, or regulated purposes without independent verification. You are responsible for how you use AI outputs and for having the rights to any content you submit to AI features.

10. Service level and warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising out of the content you upload, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these terms.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for material breach of these terms, non-payment, suspected fraud or security risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Where reasonable, we will give you an opportunity to export your data before deletion.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the seller resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless local consumer law grants you a different forum.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
